The Austrian Railway Group runs an “Egroup” (hosted by Yahoo!).
This lets members with access to the Internet share messages, files
and pictures and to seek and provide information on Austrian railways.
Participation is restricted to ARG members and a few special,
helpful friends who are ‘movers and shakers’ with a special
contribution to the group. Currently about one third of the ARG
membership have joined the Egroup. They include several
based in Austria, some of whom are vendors of Austrian models
and literature on Austrian Railways.
Commercial advertising is not allowed, but members may
advertise their own items for sale. Information on
events and on new models, etc. is encouraged.
Unfortunately in today’s on-line environment
it is necessary to protect members’ computers from risk
of contamination by denying the use of Email
attachments. However members can
share files and pictures by placing them in the Egroup
repositories.
There you can download when interested.
(ARG assumes that members maintain virus protection
on their systems, making downloading relatively ‘safe’).
View the Egroup Home Page.
The group is managed by a moderator.
You may request membership of the Egroup by accessing the Home Page: your
request will go to the moderator for action (this
includes an ARG membership check).
If you need help using the ARG Egroup,
there is a How to Use document available to steer you
through the main features.
To give you a taste of what is available through
the Egroup, a couple of typically informative messages follow:
they are selected from almost 3000 messages posted to date:
