The Austrian Railway Group
Trisannabrucke

Description of layout
(may be used in programme and publicity if desired)

Setting and Prototype
The real Trisannabrucke is situated on the Arlberg route which crosses the Alps in an east-west direction linking Switzerland with Austria. The Trisannabrucke is the most well known structure on the route, which was featured in the film “Von Ryan’s Express”. The famous castle of “Wiesberg” stands guard over the “Tal der Karrenweg”. Many famous passenger trains traverse the route daily such as the “Arlberg Express”, “Orient Express” and “Transalpin” as well as many double headed freight trains struggling to cope with the steep gradients.

The Layout
This N scale layout attempts to capture the atmosphere of this dramatic route as well as the trains that traverse it. The bridge and castle form the focal point, whilst the wooded mountain slopes provide the alpine setting for the trains to run through. Motive power is provided by Roco, Fleischmann, Arnold and Kato, whilst rolling stock comes from most of the major manufacturers.

The layout is based on Epoch 4/5.
