Axamer Lizum

South of Axams, Tirol. Nearest ÖBB station Kematen in Tirol (10 km – uphill). Post Bus service from Innsbruck via Völs to Axams Centrum.

2,105 metres long, from Axamer Lizum (talstation) to Hoadl (bergstation). Height difference 762 metres, average gradient is 54^. Each of two cars carries a maximum of 147 people

Built in 1975, the Olympiabahn was constructed to take spectators and competitors to the start of the 1976 Winter Olympics downhill ski run. The holding of the Winter Olympics was originally won by Denver, United States, but was offered to Innsbruck after a referendum in Denver rejected the spending of any money on holding the Olympics there.

The funicular operates from early December until the last week in March, and from the middle of June until the end of September. Exact opening information is available from the owners, Axamer Lizum Aufschlißungs AG.
