Bad Hofgastein-Kitz (II)

Nearest ÖBB station , Bad Hofgastein Bans. 1km – steep road (currently only served by early morning and late evening trains); or Bad Hofgastein (3 km, hourly bus service) (two-hourly IC / EC service between Schwarzach St. Veit and beyond, and Spiral Milstättersee and beyond)

The current funicular opened in 1984, replacing an earlier one on the same line of route. The line is 1251 metres long, rising 459 metres to the berg, at 1302 metres above sea level. The line is built to 1200mm gauge, has a maximum gradient of 48.5%, and has two cars, made by Wagner Burro, each holding up to 120 people. Maximum speed is 8.5 metres/second.
