The Austrian Railway Group : Funiculars in Austria

Roßhütte at Seefeld

The Stanseilbahn Roßhütte was opened on 20 December 1969, running from the talstation on the south-eastern side of Seefeld in Tirol to the Bergstation 527 metres higher, at Roßhütte, which is 1762 metres above sea level. The line is 2,469 metres long, with a maximum gradient of 37.2%. The funicular operates for most of the year, with short breaks for maintenance in the Spring and Autumn. The two cars operate every fifteen minutes, and in summer travel at 7 metre/second. In winter, to cater for larger numbers of visitors, the cars operate at 12 metres / second, and the journey time is thus cut from 8 minutes to 5. In summer the maximum loading is 600 people per hour in each direction, and this doubles in winter.
