Fleischmann are based in Nurnberg. Over the years they have deservedly
gained a reputation for high quality models of German prototypes: both
HO and N scale enthusiasts are served.
Their range of ‘Austrian’ models is rather obscure because
they are normally supplied exclusively to the Austrian vendors
who, acting together, have persuaded Fleischmann to supply a
model (invariably one produced primarily for the German market)
in Austrian livery. It follows that to learn what is available,
potential buyers must get access to the advertising material from
these Austrian vendors,
eg Rainer’s website has a section on Fleischmann’s
ÖBB models viz, http://www.modellbahn.at/fleischmann/flefoto1.htm
!>
NB Modellers of the DRG era will find German prototypes that ran
through to Austria (eg Cl. 03 & Cl. 18) in the Fleischmann German
prototypes catalogue
Potential buyers who find difficulty obtaining Fleischmann products,
and, in particular, spares from the Austrian vendors may find that John
Hills of Fleischmann UK can assist (info@fleischmann.co.uk); also it may
be worth contacting J. Morris, Lancing (www.jmorris4trains.co.uk)
and The Hobby Shop, Faversham (sales@hobb-e-mail.co.uk) to check if a
desired Austrian model happens to be available through them.
Locomotive classes offered by Fleischmann in Austrian liveries in HO
scale, including some that may be out of production are:-
- Steam: ÖBB Class 50, 64(? in HO), 86, 638, 691, 694, 770 & BBÖ Cl 39
- Diesel: ÖBB Class 5081 railbus & trailer – also for GKB
4401 5081 and trailer
- Electric ÖBB Class 1043
Fleischmann also offer several 2 & 4 axle coaches
and an increasing number of freight vehicles in
Austrian liveries ranging from Era 2 – Era 5
While not specifically for Austria, Fleischmann’s product
range also includes track and control equipment as well as excellent turntables.
‘N’ scale modellers will find that most of the above items
are also available in their preferred scale.
