The Austrian Railway Group
Liliput

Liliput started in Austria in 1947 and made a range of HO models in Wien. . By the 1970s Liliput had developed its production techniques to match the best plastic bodied models available. It maintained this high quality production till its demise. During the 1990s, they were absorbed into the Herpa group of companies, and then into Bachmann Industries. To this day, Bachmann have retained the Liliput name for their range of European HO models and, judging by the number of re-releases, have utilised a significant proportion of the plastic moulding assets acquired at its new production facilities in China.

Although new production is all under the Bachmann label, examples of "new", that is never used Liliput items, can still be found in specialist shops. Swap meets and secondhand sales can be another source for the elusive model especially for some of the preserved ÖBB & ÖGEG running numbers.

The range though all in 1:87 is of particular interest to Austrian Modellers since it includes many HOe items. This allows the modelling of lines such as the stLB, the Zillerbahn, Salzkammergutbahn and of course ÖBB itself.

To our knowledge, there has only been one 1:1 scale Liliput item, 52 1227
