ÖBB Class 298 : U Uv Uh Bh dU

Originally a class of 102 locomotives, they operated across all the Austrian narrow gauge routes in the days of the Austro Hungarian empire, running in what was later Hungary, Italy, Poland and Czechoslovakia as well as Austria. All were grouped in Class 298, with .0, .1 and .1 denoting variants. Bh1 is a rebuilt Uh1. Others became classes 398(Bh1), 498(Uh) and 998(dU)

Built in the main by Krauss at Linz from 1888 onwards, the last was built in 1930

	Salzkammergutlokalbahn 7	Krauss, Linz, 1893 /2751. New as No. 7 SKGLB S7 on closure of line in 1957. Hauled the last freight train on 10 October 1957. Not withdrawn, but "stored serviceable". Sold to StLB 1957, as S7, for the NG section of the Feistritztalbahn (Weiz to Birkfeld and Ratten). Altered with side-tank extensions in 1966. Stored in 1973 after the line beyond Birkfeld closed to passenger trains. Sold May 1975 to Club 760. On display, at the Club 760 museum, Frojach-Castel, Murtalbahn. Not in working order(2006).

Stored 1972 out of service. 1972 sold to Vehicle Museum of Marxzell near Karlsruhe (D). Bought by SKGLB Museum Mondsee in 1996, but took until 7 August 2000 to move to SKGLB Museum, Mondsee. 15 March 2002, bought by Club 760. Oberösterreich government paid for repair at Ceske Velenice, Czech Republic, and returned to working order on Taurachbahn. 30 November 2004. In service.(2006)
