This section is devoted to Three different classes built by Franco Belge for the German Wehrmacht during mid 1940s.
Included are the two classes of 699 in ÖBB service plus a 699 of StLB.

699.01

Build Franco-Belge 1944/2818, for the Wehrmacht, Deutsche Heeresfeldbahn HF 2818 1945 ÖStB 699.01 1953 ÖBB 699.01, on the Bregenzerwald Railway. 1963 Vellachtalbahn. 1971, withdrawn and stored. 1973, purchased by Club 760, repaired and used on special trains on the Pinzgaubahn, later the Bregenzerwaldbahn.
1983 to Taurachbahn, Mauterndorf. 1994, general repair, painted red. In use on Taurachbahn (2005).

699.02

Build Franco-Belge 1944/2822, for the Wehrmacht, Deutsche Heeresfeldbahn HF 2822. New to Bregenzerwaldbahn 1945 ÖStB 699.02, Bregenzerwaldbahn. 1951 to Waldviertalbahn, for freight services. 1953 ÖBB 699.02. 1966 Mariazellerbahn, St. Pölten Alpenbahnhof. 1973 Withdrawn and sold, with 699.01, as source of spare parts for 699.01. On open-air display at Club 760 museum, Frojach. 1987 sold to Jagstalbahn, Germany. 1988 sold to W.Seidensticker. 1994 sent to Rügenschen Kleinbahn and displayed at Putbus(D). 1996 Exchanged for rebuilt Aquarius C (former SKGLB 22), which had been rebuilt and returned to working order. Sent to DTMB Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin. 1998 displayed within museum, on narrow-gauge transporter. Static exhibit.

699.03

Build Franco-Belge 1944/2856, for the Wehrmacht, Deutsche Heeresfeldbahn HF 2856. New to Pinzgaubahn 1945 ÖStB 699.03. 1949 to Bregenzerwaldbahn. 1953 ÖBB 699.03. 1971 withdrawn. Stored out of use. Assumed dismantled.



Class 699.1

This class, with 4 examples in Austria, were all built by Franco-Belge in 1944, for the Germany Wehrmacht.

699.101

Works number 2817, Built as tender locomotive. HF 2817 1944, new to Steyrtalbahn. 1945 to Bregenzerwaldbahn, but stored at Bezau as too heavy for the track, and too long for the turntables. 1951, taken to ÖBB Knittlefeld. Rebuilt into tank engine (tenderlok) for use on the Vellbachbahn between Kühnsdorf and Eisenkappel. Used on freight services. 1953 699.101. 1956 fitted with Giesl ejector. May 1971 stopped in traffic. Removed to ÖBB HW St. Pölten Alpenbahnhof. Stored out of use. October 1972 rebuilding authorised. May 2001 rebuilding finished. Sold to Gurkthalbahn. In working order (2006).

699.102

Works number 2819, HF 2819. 1944, new to Steyrtalbahn. 1945 at Steyr after damaging trackwork. 1951, taken to ÖBB Knittlefeld. Rebuilt into tank engine (tenderlok) for use on the Vellbachbahn between Kühnsdorf and Eisenkappel. 1973 withdrawn, dismantled.

699.103

Works number 2821, HF 2821. New to Steyrtalbahn. 17 August 1946 to Bregenzwaldbahn. 1951 rebuilt as a tank engine by ÖBB Knitelfeld and 1953 renumbered as 399.103. Allocated to Vellbachbahn. 1971 to Waldviertalbahn. December 1992 to Steyrtalbahn. 2004 ÖBB Pinzgaubahn. Now on Steyrtalbahn, ÖGEG (2005) .

Works number 2855, HF 2857 also built by Franco Belge in 1944. 1944 New to Salzkammeergut Lokalbahn. 1945 SGGLB 19 until closure. 1958 renumber by StLB as 699.01. 1969 bought by Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway Sir Drefaldwyn. Stored under cover, out of use.
