This section is devoted to the remaining narrow gauge steam classes.



Class 199

Originally designed for Austria and built at Linz, later examples for the same railways were then in Italy so built there. A final bacth of three was built by Krauss at Linz..

Confusingly these three numbers P1 - P3 were used twice, this set of three being for the Trieste-Parenzo, line in 1911 by Krauss of Linz.

P1

Krauss, Linz 1911, builder number 6494. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P1. 1938 FS402.001. Regauged to 950mm. Transferred to Palermo - Corleone - San Carlo, Sicily. Withdrawn 1957.

P2

Krauss, Linz 1911, builder number 6495. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P2. 1938 FS402.002. Regauged to 950mm. Transferred to Palermo - Corleone - San Carlo, Sicily. Withdrawn 1959.

P3

Krauss, Linz 1911, builder number 6496. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P3. 1938 FS402.003. Regauged to 950mm. Transferred to Palermo - Corleone - San Carlo, Sicily. Withdrawn 1959.

A further batch in 1922 (P4 - P9) were built by Officine Meccaniche for the Italian lines

Officine Meccaniche 1922, works no. 114. New to kkStB Baureihe Parenzo (Trieste - Parenzo), FS P4. 1943 to Split (HR), for Split – Sinj line. 1945 to Cacak. Subsequently to Zenica.

Officine Meccaniche 1922, works no. 115. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P5. 1938 FS402.005. Regauged to 950mm. Transferred to Palermo - Corleone - San Carlo, Sicily. Withdrawn 1959.

Officine Meccaniche 1922, works no. 117. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P7. 1938 FS402.007 1943:Parma for the Parma Railway. Withdrawn 1963and transferred to Roma. 1967 to Nationales Wissenschafts- und Technikmuseum Leonardo da Vinci in Milan (I) on Static display.

P8

Officine Meccaniche 1922, works no. 118. New to Trieste-Parenzo, number P8. 1938 FS402.008. Regauged to 950mm. Transferred to Palermo - Corleone - San Carlo, Sicily. Withdrawn 1959.

P9

The second group from Krauss at Linz, again used P1 - P3. This time for use on Die Krumpe. All built 1922 and new to Ruprectshofen – Garsten line.

works number 1467. 1926 BBÖ P2. 1938 DRB 99 1002. 1945 ÖStB 99 1002' 1953 – ÖBB 199.02. 1975 withdrawn and sold to Gurkthalbahn (Treibach-Althofen). 2005 in service?.

P3

works number 1468. 1926 BBÖ P3 1938 DRB 99 1003. 1945 ÖStB 99 1003. 1953 ÖBB 199.03. 21 Jan 2003 transferred to Slowenisches Eisenbahnmuseum Ljubljana, on open display at Isola (SLO).

Built Kraus, Linz, 1893, number 2885 Originally StLB 6 Thörl, allocated to Thörlerbahn (Kapfenberg -Thörl - Seebach - Au/Seewiesen). 1945 - 1950 - Stainzerbahn. 1950-1970 - Thörlerbahn. Withdrawn 1970, stored. 1972 sold to Club 760 (the first loco to be acquired). 1993 displayed at the centenary of the Thörlerbahn. 1994-1995 - repaired in the Czech Republic. Returned to service May 1995 on the Thörlerbahn and on closure, was transferred to Mauterndorf. 2005 in service.

698.01


Built Henschel 1941, works number 25701 as a trial locomotive for the German Army transport corps, this was a four-coupled version of the 6-coupled HF11OC type, of which 898.01 (below) is an example. New to St. Pölten Alpenbahnhof, for local shunting duties . 1953 ÖBB 698.01. 1962 Ybbstalbahn, Waidhofen an der Ybbs' 1969 withdrawn and in 1970 plinthed at Haag Bhf NÖ. In 1990's, moved to Pfandl, Salzkammergutlokalbahnand plinthed undercover outside Gasthaus zur Ischlerbahn with original SKGLB coach. Owned by the Wien Technical Museum.

898.01


Built Henschel 1941, Helfmann class, works number 25702 New to Mariazellerbahn HF 20 751. 1953 ÖBB 698.01 . Withdrawn c1969 and plinthed at Felixdorf. Bought by Gurktalbahn, remedial work done at St. Pölten Alpenbahnhof, returned to service 2000 on Gurktalbahn. 2005 in service.
