The route leaves Krems a d Donau and runs through the suburbs and alongside the Danube for 87 kilometres. For most of the time it parallels B3 until Mauthausen. In 2006, regular services operated from Krems to Spitz (with 5047) and St Valentin to St Nikola Studen (also with 5047). Buses linked Spitz to Emmersdorf, and only the Nostalgie zug ran the whole length.

	Krems an der Donau Multi track station with rebuild platforms on main line from Wien. Depot with lokshuppe. Terminus for services to Sigmundsherberg, Emmersdorf a d Donau and St Valentin and freight branches to the Danube riverside.
	Campus Krems / Kinstmeile Krems Single track station with no shelter on perimeter of University.
	Stein Mautern double track loop station , overlooking the Danube with a short headshunt to west. Ends at the end of the tunnel.
	Unterlioben Single track halt with platform and shelter on the north side of the village.
	Dürnstein Oberlioben Traditional three track loop, but with one shortened loop. Station buildings now a restaurant. Located on eastern edge of Dürnstein.
	Weißkirchen a d Waschau Three track loop with platform and station building now converted to a house. Located on eastern edge of village.
	Wösendorf-Josching single track halt with platform and shelter on north west of village.
	Spitz a d Donau Three track loops with short PW headshunt to eastern end. In 2006 the terminus of the hourly service from Krems and the linking bus service to Emmersdorf. At the east end of town, with views from B3.
	Schwallerbach Single track halt with shelter. No vehicular access. At east of village.
	Willendorf a d Wachau Single track halt with shelter. Limited vehicuolar access. At west of village.
	Aggsbach Markt Three track loop with station building (in use as housing in 2006) and platforms
	Grimsing Single track halt with shelter. ihn centre of village by level crossing.
	Emmersdorf a d Donau Located above the town to the east of the viaduct. Three track loops and platforms with the station buildings now a house.
	Weitenegg single track station with shelter. Former loop converted to siding with Loading Ramp and shed.
	Lehen-Ebersdorf Actually in Ebersdorf just of B3 to the east of the level crossing. Single track, platform and shelter. No service (2006)
	Klein Pöchlarn three track loop station with building but only one platform. Loading Ramp and freight headshunt.
	Marbach Maria Taferl Three loop tracks with station building and goods shed.
	Persenbueg four track loops with two platforms and station building and goods shed.
	Weins Isperndorf three track loops with short headshunt and factory siding at east end.
	Hirchenau Nosching Single track platform and shelter. Formally closed (2006). Just off B3.
	Sarmingstein Single track with platform and station building (now house) and goods shed. Second loop converted to siding.
	St Nikola Struden Two track loop with one platform and shelter. Current terminus (2006) of service to St Valentin.
	Grein Stadt Single track halt at upper edge of old town with view over Donau valley.
	Grein Bad Kreuzen Multi track station with closed goods shed, and former loco depot used now by PW. Used as stabling point for west end of route. Just off B3 in Bad Kreuzen.
	Dornach Single track halt with shelter on banks of Donau.
	Saxen A typical three track loop station with island platform.
	Baumgartenberg A two track loop station with island platform. A goods siding is at the east end being formed fomr the innermost loop.
	Arbing A typical three track loop station with island platform.
	Perg Schulzentrum A modern station with single track, and a new station building and island platform. Bus terminus adjacent.

	Just east of the halt is a single track siding, wiyh a large yard adjacent (bottom right), possibly for seasonal freight working. Aisthofen A single track halt, with an adjacent factory (below left) which has its own siding and loading dock (Pioneer, a Du Pont company)
	Schwertberg ThreE track two platforms. Under reconstruction(2006). An adjacent factory (engel) has rail access. Immediately outside the town, HoolMeyr operate an extensive car transport yard with rail facilities. Hool Meyr.
	Mauthausen Multi track station with four platforms immediately at north end of Donau bridge. Small freight facility.
	St Pantaleon somgle track halt at south end of Donau bridge. the sidings to the west of the route leads to Enns Haven (bottom Left), and including steel and cement handling yards. the sidings to the East serve a large OMV Tank farm (bottom right).
	St Valentin Junction with the Ennstalbahn (to Klein Reifling, Selzthal and Bischofshofen) Junction with the Westbahn (Salzburg = Wien)
Krems and St Valentin are excellent for photography, and with the line running in the main along the flat Danube river bank, photography is easy. The bridges at Muhlhausen and Grein and mist of the line are exposed to the sun throughout of the day. From Grein eastwards, the line may be in evening shadow.	Check the timetable, as trains of the through route are infrequent. Note also that not all stops are in the towns of the same names. In 2006 the serviuce in parts was bus operated, with Nostalgiezug providing the only through service.
