Just east of the halt is a single track siding, wiyh a large yard adjacent (bottom right), possibly for seasonal freight working.

A single track halt, with an adjacent factory (below left) which has its own siding and loading dock (Pioneer, a Du Pont company)

Mauthausen
Multi track station with four platforms immediately at north end of Donau bridge. Small freight facility. |
St Pantaleon
somgle track halt at south end of Donau bridge. the sidings to the west of the route leads to Enns Haven (bottom Left), and including steel and cement handling yards. the sidings to the East serve a large OMV Tank farm (bottom right).

Krems and St Valentin are excellent for photography, and with the line running in the main along the flat Danube river bank, photography is easy. The bridges at Muhlhausen and Grein and mist of the line are exposed to the sun throughout of the day. From Grein eastwards, the line may be in evening shadow. |
Check the timetable, as trains of the through route are infrequent. Note also that not all stops are in the towns of the same names. In 2006 the serviuce in parts was bus operated, with Nostalgiezug providing the only through service. |
