Route and stations from Martinsberg - Zwettl - Schwarzenau

The line follows the river from Schwarzenau to Zwettl, then climbs amidst rolling hills to Martinsberg. Considerable freight mostly timber is moved on all sections while passenger services (in 2007) reached as far as Zwettl Stadt.

Schwarzenau
A multi track station with two through platforms on an island, and two bay platforms. There are four freight loops, a two track PW depot and several sidings.
The station is the terminus for services to Waidhofen a d Thaya and Zwettl, with through services between Gmund NO and Wien FJB.
There is a small Eisenbahn museum.

A three track loop station with large station building set back. A depot with three outside tracks is now used by a preservation group (Martinsberg Lokalbahn Verein). Significant timber and oil handling facilities.

Traditional three track loop with headshunt used for stone unloading. Conventional station building all east of level crossing at west of village. A further three loop tracks provide extensive timber handling facilities on the opposite side of the level crossing.

A typical three track loop, station with head shunt and a small disused depot building. There is a station building, goods shed and lagerhaus.
This is the end of the branch.

The upper part of the route though closed (in 2006) to passenger services, still has a daily freight, and occasional steam specials by the Zwettl based Martinberg Lokalbahn Verein.
