Private Railway at Irlach

The 300 metre-long private railway of Hr. Dieter Vogel, which opened on 22 June 1991, runs from beside the SVB at Hst Irlach, immediately south of Hst St.Georgen bei Salzburg on the SVB. The locomotive EH is a 600mm Gmeinder / Gebus - built Bo diesel-electric, built in 1951 for the Zehmemoos peat works, owned by Chemistie Linz AG. It has a 25 hp engine, and weighs 4 tonnes in full working order. The locomotive has a top speed of 16 km/h. The works are to the north of Hst. Zehmemoos, the intermediate station between Burmoos and Lamprechtshausen. EH was acquired as surplus stock, by Hr. Vogel for use this private line.

The railway also owns a Diema locomotive, V 2083 built in August 1957 DS20 B-dm by Max Schotter, Ziegeleibedarf, München-Solln, for Anton Schmidt, Markt-Oberdorf. An 0-4-0 DM powered by a DS20 engine, it was rebuilt by Diema, Diepholz and sold in to 1975 Chemie-Linz AG, Torfwerk Zehmemoos, Bürmoos. In 1985 it was sold to Herr Vogel, and is also used on the line.

Following Dr Vogel's death, his family and friends continue to operate the line, usually on days when there are specials on the Trimmelkam line.
