SRB (Südbergenlandische Regionalbahn) operate two former ÖBB branches in the area south of Wien, serving villages and towns close to the Hungarian border. The lines, a branch northwards from Oberwart to the town of Oberschützen, and the south-westerly continuation from Oberwart to Rechnitz, generate some freight traffic, which passes onto the ÖBB line at Oberwart, and thence via the branch back to Freidberg, and onto the rest of the network.

The Südburgenländische Regionalbahn runs summer weekend and bank holiday services between Großpetersdorf & Rechnitz. At peak times Cl 93.1422 pulls ex-Pressburgerbahn coaches, while diesels can be seen with traditional ÖBB 4 wheelers in the quieter months (May/June). There is no passenger service between Oberwart and Großpetersdorf.

The Marchenbahn, operates on a section of closed railway line from the village of Großpetersdorf eastwards towards the border with Hungary, once part of a branch line from Freidberg to Tomoly (Diemling) and Steinamanger (Szombathely) in Hungary. The ÖBB line now terminates at Oberwart, and has an approximately 2 hourly weekday train service, with a 4-times weekday post bus connection to Großpetersdorf (15 km).

The line leaves the mains station and workshops in Großpetersdorf in a south-easterly direction, through a wooded area, following the Tauchenbach river. The line skirts round a rocky outcrop, on which stands Hannersberg, and passes Hst. Hannersdorf before crossing the river. After passing Hst. Burg the line turns sharply north following the canalise River Erlbach through Hst. Schandorf and Hst. Schachendorf. It terminate at the line's museum near Rechnitz. The line beyond this point has been lifted.

The 15 km-long standard gauge line (marketed as the "Fairy Tale Line") has a single return service on Sundays in 2004 between the first Sunday in May and the last Sunday in September, with further services on Saturdays in July and August, and Mondays in July. During part of August there is a return working Monday-Friday from Hannersdorf only to Rechnitz, and operated by diesel loco.

The line also offers steam driving courses, using 93.1422, and facilities for wedding parties.
