Steirmarkische Landesbahn : Murtalbahn Sonderzug with U11

In the summer of 2005, again researching for the ARG Murtalbahn Booklet we we came upon U11 performing a sonderzug for a Swiss Alpine band. The weather was terrible, so the only Murau video is inside the depot. However the rain did ease for the last trip of the day to St Lorenzen with a single coach.

This page shows a range of pictures all of which can be enlarged (double click on image, then double click on icon in bottom right for big screen shots), and links to the video (view it full screen). The video has been edited for viewing with Windows Media Player and may be available later in other formats.
Please note that some video clips slightly exceed 1 Mb and may take a moment or two to load.

The opening sequence is taken from the fuelling point, and shows the weather. Moving inside we look round the depot, and over the panels of U11 as it prepared for its later run.

Just arrived, Turned and coupled,
Waiting to go, Off she goes
Across the road. And back towards Murau.
St Lorenzen was the destination for a one coach train, possibly a steam driving experience, and we watched U11 fuss around its single charge before returning tender first to Murau.

Such specials run throughout the summer, it's always worth checking. In addition StLB have their weekly Bummelzug - on video from Murau to Tamsweg.
